About Me

Current Location: London, UK

Background: Born in China, partially raised there then got uprooted and replanted in Canada, this Chinese-Canadian girl has since been in love with globe-trotting and cultural-immersion. Having studied in France for a year, I then settled in for another year in one of the most rural places in Japan, 5 minutes from the coast that stretches out into the endless Japanese Pacific. From 2013 to 2015, I was toiling away at a double Masters Degree. I chose it mainly because it allowed me to live in Beijing and London. Since graduating, I have remained in wet, wild London. Hunan, China will always be my home, and so will Vancouver, Canada. But I am a citizen of the world.

Hobbies: Reading, swimming, shower singing, silly dancing, collecting all things corny and warm, talking, blogging, plotting mischief.

Favourite Book Genres: dystopian fiction, historical and political fiction, biographies, young adult (YA), travel memoirs and political sci-fi

Favourite Author(s): George Orwell, Khaled Hosseini, Dan Brown, Margaret Atwood

All-time Favourite Books and Authors1984 by George Orwell, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, everything and anything by Khaled Housseini, The Importance of Being Ernest by Oscar Wilde, Will Ferguson, The Good Women of China by Xin Ran.

Current Life Mantra: “Who you will be one year from now is most greatly influenced by the books you read and the people with whom you spend time.”
